Prospective Parents Open House
Come meet our parents, teachers, and principal and learn about our PK -5th-grade offerings.
Parents will hear a presentation that details the curriculum, enrichment activities, and parent organizations, followed by a building tour.

STAAR Interim Assessments in December
Beginning Tuesday, December 6th, students in grades 3rd – 5th will complete their Interim Assessments in Math, Reading, & Science (5th only). These assessments will help teachers understand what skills students have mastered.
Please ensure your student gets a good night’s rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time.

Dyslexia Awareness Month
October is in the United States. Let’s deepen our understanding of this language-based challenge and try to raise awareness in our community.
Eight-year-old Evan is one of the brightest children in his third-grade class. He has a wonderful vocabulary and knows everything there is to know about baseball—he can even tell you who played in each of the last ten World Series games and who won. But when it comes to reading about baseball—or anything else—Evan has a lot of trouble. It takes him a long time to read each word, and even longer to read whole sentences. He often has to guess at how you say a word—and sometimes his guess is wrong. Reading out loud is especially stressful and embarrassing. His teacher recently told Evan’s parents that she thinks he might have dyslexia.
Most people assume that part of being smart is being able to read well. About 100 years ago, though, doctors figured out that some people, even some very smart people who do really well at many other things, have trouble learning to read. This difficulty with reading is called dyslexia.

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Announcement!
Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Announcement!
In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for kindergarten and newly enrolled students in grades 1-12 for gifted and talented screening.
Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may refer them for assessment. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s website.

The deadline for GATE referral is September 30, 2022, and G/T assessment period will take place in October. For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school’s G/T coordinator or G/T coach/teacher.

Volunteering at HSA-CP
All parents MUST be registered if you volunteering for any other activities that are taking place at school.
Please follow the following steps to register and sign up for an opportunity (such as field trip chaperoning, helping homeroom teachers, lunch/recess duty )
How to Register to be a Volunteer
1) Go to School Website at https://hsacp.harmonytx.org/
2) Click on the Parents tab and then, click on Be a Volunteer from the dropdown menu.
3) Complete the registration process by adding your information.
4) Complete the Orientation to be able to complete your registration. All volunteers MUST complete it in order to be eligible to volunteer on campuses.

After you click on the link at the end of the orientation slides, it will take you to a form saying you “agree” with our policies and abide by them.
How to sign up for an opportunity
5) You will be able to see all volunteer opportunities at the Website under the Parent >Be Volunteer Tab to sign up.
6) Find the opportunity and sign up for it
7) Your name will appear under the opportunity on the system and the teachers will be notified.
8) After you complete the opportunity, please remember to log your hours in under the matched opportunities by signing in EZVolunteer through the website.
